Financial crisis for economic policy

Abstract
This presentation will review the theory behind global economic policy since 1980. It will argue that the financial crisis had its origins in the downturn in economic growth which preceded it as well as the emphasis on the financial sector as an engine of growth. It will propose an economic strategy to avoid a repeat of the great depression of the 1930s but which will also deal with the large budget deficits which have arisen since the onset of the current crisis.
